Lunar New Year for Kids - 2022

SurreyGreatBooks4Kids - Lunar New Year, commonly referred to as Chinese New Year, begins with the first new moon and ends with the first full moon in the lunar calendar. This year, Lunar New Year falls on February 1 and will mark the first day of the New Year for many Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Laos and other Asian cultures. Customs and traditions may differ by region, but generally families celebrate through traditions of honouring deities and ancestors, hosting a New Year’s Eve Dinners, and cleaning house to sweep away bad luck and welcome good fortune. In China, elders offer youth red envelopes filled with money wishing them health, growth and good studies for the year. 2022 is the year of the Tiger. People born in the Year of the Tiger were born in 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022.
