With a sharp, incisive wit, and breakneck narrative pace, the well-informed Lindy West tackles current topical issues head-on, as well as addressing notable and sometimes amusing hypocrisies within popular culture. In this collection of essays, West raises compelling points about emotionally-charged issues relating to women, while keeping the reader engaged with her strong, passionate voice. I had a few minor quibbles over details that I felt diminished some of her arguments (for example, she repeatedly shouts that No, Ted Bundy was NOT charismatic, he was a creep; which I think diminishes the powerful point that it was the fact that many did consider his behavior charismatic that made it so easy for him to lure women. And the reason Adam Sandler's character in "The Wedding Singer" is so angry at his former fiancee isn't because he hates women, it's because she humiliated him and left him at the altar. But yeah, I'll agree that many other Sandler movies do diminish women.) Overall I found the essays funny, sharp, and thought-provoking.
