Everless had a lot of potential. The idea and premise were incredible, and the main character seemed irrational but brave. This ended up being a disaster, in more ways than one. Everything came easy to her, in the most unrealistic way. Characters like Liam were initially enticing, but fell short near the end (like most things in this book). I had such high expectations, and saw so many ways this could go, but it ended up just going towards a fail. It makes me angry just thinking about the potential that was lost! The beautiful cover is pretty amazing, though. If only the inside was the same. In this story, time is currency, and royalty has the most money. But royalty has a few secrets of its own. Rating 2/5 @jewelreader of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library "Time is a prison. She is the key". WOAH, talk about amazing plot twists... The book is set in a place known as Sempera. In this world, time is added to lives in the form of blood turned into coins. Those of power and greed live on for centuries to come, while others diminish slowly. Jules now has an opportunity to return to Everless castle, after ten years of staying away from the palace and she takes the opportunity. Once at the castle, she works as a maid and befriends Ina, the soon to be queen. Throughout the story, Jules encounters secrets, cruelty and most of all, friends from her past she never thought to see again. But things at the palace aren't what they seem, as Jules begins to uncover secrets from her past about her true life. I purchased the book from TARGET, and it included a bonus feature from the story, which was a little confusing, but a great add!! So overall, this book was great from the cover to the end, and I especially LOVED Liam. BUT, there were some parts in the book that seemed kind of slow and confusing. I rate this book a 3.5/5, so thank you Sara Holland for this really good book :) OH AND ALSO I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COVER...just wow! - @bibliophile of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
