Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (是枝 裕和) in 2008, this Japanese drama depicts a portrait of a family over roughly 24 hours as they commemorate the death of the eldest son. Although the background and ambience of this film appear quite different from those of "Tokyo Story" directed by Yasujirō Ozu (小津 安二郎), both films seem alike in terms of a geltle naturalism and family portrayal. Even without big actions and great events, this film depicts deep regrets and daily joys with vivid and heartrending performances of the major actors.
