Three things marked my childhood more than anything else: Mormons, baseball and Star Wars. So almost 40 years later I'm reading my first Star Wars book, my second book on Mormon history and the world champion Royals are back in Surprise Valley. However I'm finding some things are better left in the past. While I have tons of nostalgia for Star Wars, I'll never be able to relive those glory years of playing with my figures 8 hours per day with my best friend Jamie. And while going to the K is a great experience it doesn't come close to the days when I literally thought I was an invincible super hero in my catchers gear and that no child or parent could harm me no matter what I did or what foul language came out of my young mouth through the fence. And I am ever grateful I no longer have to sit through fast Sunday or testimony day in a cult anymore. While it was interesting to learn a few things about the Sith and their fighting styles. I do not feel compelled to rush out and read another Star Wars book in the next 40 years. Oh well, both the force and my indestructibility in catchers gear seem more believable than Jesus in South America circa 79 AD though.
