I love this book because (1) there are few English bento books available, (2) the pictures are wonderful and featuring adorable ideas, and (3) the recipes are simple and descriptive. I find the idea of a bento sketchbook intriguing but not entirely practical for most parents, even if we do stay at home with our children. I wish the authors timed their bento-making. For me the dividing line between a good bento and a bad bento is not just the cute or nutrition factors... but can I do it in under 30 minutes. If not, it questionably becomes more of a pain than it's worth. Because it will surely be eaten in less time! Also I liked that they suggested many ways to naturally dye... most American suggestions for dying rice or eggs involve storebought dye tubes/pots which are really not suggested for ingestion by children. This book gave me some great ideas.
