The cartoonish pastel illustrations don't really fit the topic of the book and with the limited text, I felt that it wasn't a worthwhile read to explain the process to my students. But another book by the same author with the same text, but with photographs, rather than illustrations is much more engaging and worthwhile. The other book by Linda Glaser is called "Garbage Helps Our Garden Grow: A Compost Story by Linda Glaser; photography by Shelley Rotner, Millbrook Press, A Division of Lerner Publishing Group Inc, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 2010
