The first book in the stunning and strange debut fantasy series that's receiving major praise from some of fantasy's biggest authors such as Mark Lawrence and Django Wexler. The Tower of Babel is the greatest marvel in the world. Immense as a mountain, the ancient Tower holds unnumbered ringdoms, warring and peaceful, stacked one on the other like the layers of a cake. It is a world of geniuses and tyrants, of airships and steam engines, of unusual animals and mysterious machines. Soon after arriving for his honeymoon at the Tower, the mild-mannered headmaster of a small village school, Thomas Senlin, gets separated from his wife, Marya, in the overwhelming swarm of tourists, residents, and miscreants. Senlin is determined to find Marya, but to do so he'll have to navigate madhouses, ballrooms, and burlesque theaters. He must survive betrayal, assassins, and the long guns of a flying fortress. But if he hopes to find his wife, he will have to do more than just endure. This quiet man of letters must become a man of action. The Books of BabelSenlin AscendsArm of the Sphinx

One of the better fiction books I've read in a while. Keeps you hooked the whole time. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

If someone were to tell me this was a steampunk fantasy with occasional grim and gory touches, I might have passed it over. But I knew this book was winning attention in the fantasy world and the new author was making waves, so I gave it a go. It caught my attention very early and I was pulled through the whole way- a straight-laced school teacher has been thrown into a chaotic, dangerous town. Things go from bad to worse super fast, and everything in his being says to play it safe, but he can't. His new bride is separated from him, and every step of the way he has a desperate goal, to find her and bring her home safe from the worst honeymoon imaginable. Awesome character development, driving motivation and unknown dangers, great world building, and a pace that keeps you locked in. Read this next!

This is an obscure indie steampunk novel about a stiff school master who takes a honeymoon trip to the fabled Tower of Babel and promptly looses his lovely young wife amidst the teeming crowds. The novel describes, in great detail, how Senlin navigates the sinister and unfamiliar environments of the massive tower while searching for his lost wife. During each chapter, Senlin ascends to a new section of the tower where completely incomprehensible things happen, slowly revealing that the fabled tower has a very dark side. Over time, Senlin's character develops as he learns to take risks.
