Got 50 pages into it and found I was looking forward to cleaning the toilet instead of continuing to read the book. Quit and returned it to the library. She's a good writer, but after the first couple of pages, not engaging at all.

I liked that this book was a mystery but thought the story line was totally unrealistic and I could not believe it. I had to finish the book to see what happened but otherwise would not recommend it. REESE'S book club missed the mark on this one!

This was an enjoyable read, I didn't love it, didn't dislike it. I felt satisfied at the end of this fun adventurous story.

Good read! The author took me to places I did not expect starting with the first few pages about how long it takes to bury a body!!

The story had me going at first - young about-to-be married couple scaling down their honeymoon plans after job loss, Erin providing a strong female role of documentarian.....
Bora Bora started the twists and turns that fed the rest of the book. The documentary interviewees were disjointed, Marks role never complete, and the ending? Oh, well! It's enough to be made into a movie. Just enough suspense to keep engaged.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and guessing what would happen next. I quite liked Erin at first, although her poor decisions starting dragging on me towards the end. Speaking of the end, given the outcome of the story, I really think Mark's character should have been more developed. Hard to understand his decisions without really knowing him at all. It is obvious that this is Catherine Steadman's debut novel; for one thing the plot is very weak and secondly the characters as they are portrayed are rather naive. There is a certain amount of suspense which kept me reading once I got into it but I knew who the 'bad guy' (Other than Erin herself the lead character)was, way before I reached the end:-)All in all not a bad read but nothing to write home about.

Something in the Water is full of twists and turns galore. The relationship between Erin, a documentary filmmaker and Mark, an investment banker, make this novel work. The tropical beaches of Bora Bora and the rainy streets of London make me want to pack my bags and set off on an adventure.

not saying it was a bad book, just not going rush and say "oh you have to read this!" it is a bit disjointed and in places really boring. if you are waiting to get your hands on something and just need to fill the gap, give it a read. otherwise there are just too many really goods ones out there to spend a lot of time with this one.
