OK. Lead actress JL bared it all and there are plenty of torture, violence and nudity scenes. But all are superfluous and did not adds to the merit of this very long (2 hours plus) spy thriller. Plenty of cliche - bad, cruel Russians vs the good Americans. A very average film in the spy film genre.

Kind of silly. First Jennifer as a Russian ballerina: Not happening. Second couldn't watch much more because it was so wooden and silly!

A graphic tale of a former dancer caught in the world of master spies, Jennifer Lawrence portrays a strong heroine who is able to take matters into her own hands and ultimately live life on her own terms.

Slogging spy 'thriller.' Knitted my through it.

I was really impressed with Jennifer Lawrence in "Winter's Bone". But since her roles in "Hunger Games", it seems that she has been type-cast to be some kind of action hero. Too bad, she's capable of much more.

Overall, this film was OK, but the plot was not terribly credible. Its biggest flaw was the deeply disturbing gratuitous sex and violence. Not healthy and not necessary for making a decent film.

The old pros in secondary roles (Ciaran Hinds, Jeremy Irons, Douglas Hodge and Charlotte Rampling) join with Matthias Schoenaerts (outstanding as a charming Russian villain) and Mary Louise Parker (a boozy political assistant) to have a grand old time as they slog through this improbable spy thriller. Alas, the box-office conscious producers decided the film had to add 'star power'. This comes in the form of a clueless Jennifer Lawrence, who is downright embarrassing in the lead role. As a neophyte, Jennifer Lawrence showed real talent in 'Winter's Bone'; but that excellent performance came before fame made her into just another studio product. Here her hapless acting sinks a movie that already is burdened with a too violent screenplay. Far better to have taken Thekla Reuten out of her cameo role and made her the lead actress. She could have given this movie the sparkle that Lawrence just can't supply outside a rom-com script. Too bad.

NOT for the tender-hearted. I don't mind action violence, like Hunger Games, but find personal, emotional torture upsetting. That, plus the very real international situation between Russia and the USA today, made this movie an ordeal. Jennifer Lawrence does get naked in this movie, but in a way that's more disturbing than sexy.

A good spy movie, almost great.

Why it's good: Good acting, good story line with enough twists, location filming, good directing and everything fits well together so that the pacing and scenes all make sense into one coherent whole. Spy movies are usually interesting to watch.

Why it's not great: Too many torture scenes; really not necessary. Lots of nudity; maybe a bit too much. Some scenes just seemed implausible. The spy training seemed glossed over and so focused on mastering the art of seduction yet Jennifer Lawrence suddenly had all these spy skills. There was also no indication how long this spy training was and the whole training just did not seem very realistic. But since the movie is not about spy training, we could easily forgive and forget this shortfall.

Russians are bad people, Americans are good people. That's the general theme. It'd have been nice to see more humanness in the Russians...but this is a simplistic movie in terms of Hollywood stereotyping.

Jennifer L is a good actress but not convincing enough as a spy. Somehow I kept seeing Jennifer Lawrence, and not the character. It's sort of like seeing Tom Cruise as Tom Cruise...never quite the character. Perhaps somebody like Alicia Vikander or Margot Robbie or even our very own Nina Dobrev would have been better for the role...but I don't make that kind of decisions. I can only get as far as wishful thinking.

This is a movie worth watching in any company (but not with a date, unless your date like torture and blood - in which case, you might want to reconsider your choice of dates). I fast forwarded the torture and blood and gore parts. I get the idea; don't need my imaginations to go to far with that.

Hope you enjoyed the movie as much as I did.

Not Jennifer's best work. Too much unnecessary nudity.

Nice spy film with Jennifer Lawrence in various stages of undress . Not bad but not great.
