Delightful novel about a young woman who knows how to fit in to London’s society in the 1800s, on the surface, but never feels fully accepted. She has the opportunity to help some young women learn the social graces and come into their newly acquired title, while she questions her sizzling feelings for their attractive older brother. The pride and prejudice of others of polite society, including her parents, require her to provide her aid undetected, which she somehow manages. Her disgraced sister who married an American businessman provides an interesting backstory. Well-woven story line that moves along beautifully.

“Flipping through a recently purchased book about centipedes, Gabriella waited for her mother and her aunt to leave the house the following morning.” (p. 85) - loved this entry to a chapter.
