I lived through the '60's and 70's and thought I knew Nixon's story. I was wrong. Much more complicated and interesting than I thought. This book is well researched and well written.

Really enjoyed this book. Learned some surprising facts about RN. MLK Jr. & Jackie Robinson thought highly of him. He could, at times, be extremely kind and compassionate. Yes, the moniker of "Tricky Dick" was deserved but Eisenhower's treatment of his vice-president seemed cruel. A multi-dimensional personality is revealed, not the stereotype we have of Nixon. If he had only has fessed up at the beginning of Watergate who knows what accomplishments would have followed. A fine portrait of a very complex & bewildering man.

I didn't really begin to grasp just how evil Nixon was until I read David Talbot's fantastic book, The Devil's Chessboard. Really, though, Nixon was just a minion of the Bush family, which were minions of the super-rich, especially the Rockefellers. Anyone else ever wondered why Nixon appears to have the ONLY Irish name with the letter // x \\ in it? ? ?
