Sabbage was forty-eight years old and happily married with a four-year old daughter when she was diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. Since then, she's been on a remarkable journey of healing and renewal that has reshaped her life-- for the better. Here she calls for an end to "the war on cancer" and the start of a more transformative dialogue with the disease.

I came by this book to help guide me during my mom's cancer treatment, but cancer doesn't have to be in your life for this book to be relevant. Sophie Sabbage uses her cancer journey to show that even in the face of cancer there are choices. But Sabbage's insight isn't exclusively for those with cancer, and while I've learned a lot on how to help and respect my mother through her journey, I am also on my own journey through life and I need to make my own decisions. As Sabbage says, we are all terminal, but hopefully cancer isn't the catalyst to make you value your own time.
