This romantic/comedy-drama stars John Krasinski and Anna Kendrick. After learning that his mom has a brain tumour, John must return home to his strange and messed-up family for the first time in a while. The movie definitely has rough moments with issues maintaining a comprehensive story-line and clear character motives. Nonetheless, the movie is redeemed by its ability to show empathy and teach lessons about getting along with your family through the worst of things. I would rate this movie 3/5 stars, and would recommend it to those who can relate to the story as well as the characters.

A heartwarming and very human story. Make sure to have Kleenex at hand. Highly recommend.

A few laughs, but very predictable. I loved the 'Jenny Craig' line!

The Hollars, John Krasinski's directorial debut, is good and worth seeing at least once if you like independent films. Expect a drama with some light moments, rather than a comedy. It succeeded in making me cry. Richard Jenkins and Margo Martindale are two actors who seem to make every film they are in better. There is currently a waiting list for The Hollars at Hennepin County Library. You might consider checking out People, Places, Things and/or The Winning Season while you wait; these movies were written by Jim Strouse, who also wrote The Hollars, and The Winning Season also features Margo Martindale in a small role. The Hollars is rated PG-13 for brief language and some thematic material.

Not my sense of humour, didn't like the first 15 minutes, so quit.

A perfect rainy evening + popcorn + fire in the fireplace + snuggling with your favorite people evening. I laughed, cried and though it was just wonderfully done!

I had been waiting to watch this movie for awhile, and it was pretty good, but I wanted it to be better. Great cast, and good moments. A solid 3.5 stars.

So, I, uh, looked over your CAT scans. You have a pretty big brain tumor near your frontal lobe.
-Oh, Christ. Jesus Christ!
-Wait. What does that mean, "pretty big"?
It means "big."

"You won't know until you get there that you're okay."

I know there's a number of people here today that are wondering what we're going to do without her.
===
Well, they say "for better or for worse," right? I can't think of a worse time than now.
===
"Stop crying. ... You've got a funeral to plan. Don't forget I like orchids."

To be honest, I'm surprised there haven't been more symptoms.
-Would loss of sight in one eye be a symptom?
Possibly.
-Oh, what about, uh, numbness in the toes and fingers?
Probably.
-And temporary paralysis?
Definitely.
...
Why wouldn't you get those checked out?
-He sent me to Jenny Craig. ... But I lost six pounds the first week.
