It's time to accept that I am average, and to stop making this acceptance of my averageness into a bereavement.

This novel gives the sense of being quite autobiographic. Baume herself is an artist, like the narrator. This book tells the story of a young woman, who moved from Dublin to the countryside. Without plot, it tells of the process of recovering from depression. There are many references to conceptual art works and I enjoyed looking them up as I read the book.
