Wendall sets off to look for friends, but no one can see past his big pointy nose. The octopus thinks he's funny looking (that's a bit rich coming from old eight legs), the jellyfish are afraid of him (well really, those stinging brutes need to take a look in a mirror,) and even the tiny clam laughs at him (fancy that, from a creature as ridiculous as a clam!). Wendall eventually learns the value of self-examination; you can't judge others for judging you while you're judging them, after all.

We all want people to like us but sometimes we're not treated well. Eventually we sometimes learn that being kind to others no matter what, is good for our soul.

This is a beautifully illustrated book, with touches of humor and delightful onomatopoeia.

The narwhal is the unicorn of the sea!

Loved the use of onomatopoeia in this--would be a delight to read aloud to kiddos. Plus, lovely illustrations of marine life!

Wendell wants to make music but doesn't know how. His friends help him learn his true skill - conducting! The storytime kids loved popping, whooshing and clapping along with Wendell's friends.
