Frightening or Intense Scenes: Combat, shooting, swordplay. Lots of blood, gore, and death from time to time. These are pirates, not social workers.

Sexual Content: Nudity & sex scenes depicted - not just suggested.

Violence: Frequent violence, brutality, death, murder, gore, combat, and executions. Not gratuitous, but used appropriately to tell the story.

Coarse Language: Colourful metaphors of the 4-letter variety are frequently used.

Rated 8/10. Overall, not too bad, being better than previous seasons. I did minimal fast-forwarding of extraneous scenes.

I'll overlook the historical inaccuracy the writers made of the location of Charles Vane's death, which was Jamaica, not Nassau.

I'm finding the characters John Silver and John Rackham to be quite interesting.

Season 4 will be the final one to wrap it all up. Looking forward to it.

Fantastic series! Each season is better than the last. High-quality all around. Acting, writing, direction, production design, costumes, effects, you name it are all top notch. These are not your familiar (and often idiotic) Hollywood pirates. These are much closer to reality. Because of that, this show is NOT for children. It's strictly for adults. Nudity, sex scenes, coarse language, brutality, and violence are present regularly.

This series really hit its stride in Season 2. I'm about 1/3 of the way through Season 3 now, and it's gripping, fascinating and extremely entertaining.

Nowhere is it said that this is a prequel to Treasure Island, but boy, it could be, with (at last count) three major characters (Billy Bones, Ben Gunn--just introduced--and the man who became known as Long John Silver) taken from the pages of R. L. Stevenson's classic novel.

All this and REAL LIFE characters, too: Edward Teach (Blackbeard), Charles Vance, Jack Rackham and Captain Hornigold.

So the creators and writers of this series have manage to blend fact and fiction in an extremely clever way. Thanks to movie technology, never has a "pirate show" looked so realistic--none of those water-tank miniatures from Captain Blood and Black Swan days--as good as they were. This looks absolutely real--and the players perform that way, too.

Only quibble: the odd 21st century sentiment and dialogue language. But then, Errol Flynn and Burt Lancaster's dialogue wasn't spoken in the 1700s, either!
