A thoroughly researched, well written, and ultra-fascinating book that discusses a variety of very different people who helped to shape Canada into the country it is today.

first of all - that's a book which propagate British understanding what it is Canada
I agree that people from British ancestry have very big influence on shaping that country, but for God's sake - looks like Canada is just British artwork, which not exactly is true

also I've found some of the stories not quite reliable - for example yes, maybe John A. Macdonald was very skillful negotiator, but also his alcoholic habits finally put him down and also he played not very brilliant role in planning CPR -so not necessary the book is putting everything in the black&white colors

I would expect the book on that topic be much more colorful, thoughtful, funny and trustworthy

Of course still there are some details, which I found interesting, however have to verify with other sources to really make sure that it is really true

An interesting approach to Canadian history, might be a good suggestion for english-speaking newcomers.
