Red Cloud was the only Native American chief who made peace on his own terms. This is a sad story of how he was pressured by emigrants, miners and unfaithful politicians into fighting a war to keep his people's land. I recommend it.

This readable book provides insight into the warrior culture of the Sioux and the events that impacted their fate. I appreciated the historical details and timetables about the introduction of horses and weapons to their hunting and warfare capabilities.
