For whatever reason this past few weeks, I missed Gord Downie , maybe it was the upcoming Canada day celebrations, I don't know, but I needed a Tragically Hip fix. This release from 98 is a reasonable Hip recording, having a couple of their better known/popular songs, Poets and Bobcaygeon.
I have a copy of their 'greatest hits' Yer Favourites' 2005, so I'm familiar with a lot of their catalog, but what strikes me about the earlier albums is how good they are, the playing and lyrics (Gord truly was a poet laureate) are all first rate.
If you like this, check out Trouble in the Hen House (1996),Day for Night (1994),Fully Completely (1992), Road Apples (1991) or Up to Here (1989). Since borrowing these titles, I have searched out and purchased some of releases because (I was going to use cuz, but that's to American) Gord and the boys are as Canadian as it gets, and I'm happy to be one of them.
