Dead Boy sounds like a terrifying read, and at some points, it does get scary. While I do love creepy stories, I am fond of this book for many reasons. This story will make you look at the world in a more magical way. It is also a great self-esteem boost for the target audience. There is nothing more terrifying than not fitting in (when you're in Middle School) and this book beautifully illustrates how our differences make us more beautiful and powerful than we could ever imagine.
I highly recommend this to parents who have children struggling with bullying or even children who just like stories about magic in the every day world.
