As with the first book in the series, I found the writing itself repetitive in concept and style, however, I loved this story, just as I did Mark of the Thief. This story doesn't feature deep character work or focus on the inner workings of the world, but it has a great adventure and surprising twists that made me glad I could get past the repetitiveness and overall lackluster style of the writing and just enjoy the fun part of telling a story.

Young readers are probably more forgiving of style and more interested in story, so I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes history and myth and a fun adventure.
