There’s a new threat on the horizon—literally. However, before that happens, take time to look at the illustrations. I always knew New York was a weird place; that’s part of its charm. But evidently New Jersey has all sorts of bizarre elements lurking in the corners and I don’t mean superheroes. Here I spotted a man wielding a sword, a rat holding a lollipop and another rat in a tiny coat and hat. There are a man holding a pig and another man holding a sheep. There are tiny little people strolling around in yellow Hazmat suits.

But the comic swings back onto familiar ground as we see Kamala trying to regain her footing with her buddies and family. An impending apocalypse draws Kamala back to her friends—some of them happy to reconnect with her, others upset over her perceived withdrawal. Her big brother Aamir is undergoing his own crisis and the two engage in sibling bickering that is both amusing and distressing. Aamir may be becoming a superhero and it leads him to retreat from his sister in the belief that she simply can’t understand his problem. Ho nelly.

Connections are made in the oddest and most unexpected of places. Superhero team-ups abound; this one features Spider-Man and Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel’s inspiration and personal idol. Kamala’s reactions to both feature much fangirl squealing, much to their mutual bemusement. She wants to play it cool but, honest to Pete, if you met your idol, how calm would you be?

This is a storyline that keeps you guessing, but in a good way. Curveballs aren’t thrown in merely to upset the reader but to further plot, story and character developments. I really enjoy Kamala Khan as I haven’t any other comic book superheroine in a long time. I’m looking forward to future installments on her story.

Somehow this is one of my favorite volumes. I was confused. Really confused. I didn't know much about Secret Wars so I didn't understand exactly how the world was ending or why. That didn't matter, though. This was more about Kamala trying to protect her city, family, and friends. Managing the chaos happening as the world may very well be ending. She has hard choices to make.

Then, of course, Kamala meets her hero Captain Marvel. I loved their meeting and their whole team up. I feel like they both needed something from each other then. When the world is collapsing around them.

Also really liked the entire situation with Kamala's brother and how it went. I feel like he knows himself so well. Loved how protective he is of Kamala too. It was nice to see.

I love this series. Hope the world doesn't actually end from a planet crashing into it or whatever is going on. Liked this volume a lot.

It's a cliched question done in a million variations in a million different kinds of fiction: if you knew the world was going to end what would you do? At first Kamala only feels like the world is ending, thanks to last volume's event, only to discover that there are other more pressing concerns.

What would Kamala do when she knows that whatever fight she puts up isn't going to change the end result? Fight as best as she can for what and who she can. Sounds admirable enough to me.

There's a great team up, a wonderful plot line featuring Kamala's brother, and some great moments with her mother and with Bruno. I know this series officially ends with this volume and then disperses into the Secret Wars event BUT I notice that the same creative team is back and starting again. I'm glad for that because I would have been sad to see Ms. Marvel end after only 4 volumes and also NOT LIKE THAT.

I love how this volume focuses on the personal side of an apocalyptic multiverse convergence. It's a very intimate story with a lot of good relationship moments for Kamala and her friends and family. But what's gonna happen?!
