After years of paying her dues on the force, Beth Sturgis is finally a detective for the Robbery-Homicide division of the Atlanta PD. Now, she's in charge of a major manhunt for a potential serial killer who's working his way inward from the outskirts of the city. The copycat elements in the first crime scene lead Beth to retired FBI agent Jack Kale, who was responsible for apprehending and nearly killing the murderer known as the Scarecrow; the murderer who appears to be this new killer's terrible inspiration.

I have read many books of this type. I liked this book; however, there are two comments I feel compelled to make.
One, I don't like it when publishers "mislead" readers. The word THRILLER is splashed on the front cover. Okay, so the culprit will most likely be revealed well before the end. Instead, the culprit/killer is revealed near the end. In my opinion, the book should have been labeled as a mystery, not a thriller.
Splitting hairs, I hear some people saying. Maybe. But I have spent over forty years in the writing field as a writing instructor and freelance writer/author, and I know that reader expectations are very important. Also, there were numerous typos, missing words, and wrong words in some sentences that muddled the meaning of the sentence. Where was the editor?
Second point: the publisher, Crooked Lane, chose a printer who did not do a good job of binding the book. When I checked out the book and opened it for the first time, it almost split in half. The binding was loose and it was literally coming apart. I let the library staff know about it. The book is only three years old.
