Neggers has a smooth hand in slipping informative background on the characters into the narrative. Helpful in keeping the storyline moving forward without innumerable flashbacks (although it helps to have read the previous books).

On the whole, however, the story dragged along and then jumped into sudden climatic action. I read back a few pages to see if I had missed something or if some pages had gotten stuck together. Sadly, neither was true. Still, Heron's Cove is another winner in Neggers' Sharpe & Donovan romantic suspense series. I've read the others and await the next.

Another take in the Sharpe and Donovan series by Carla Neggers, this carries on with the lead couple's story, while also giving Colin's brother Mike and a former flame some exposure. Adding into all that is a mystery spanning both sides of the Atlantic involving people Mike's known in the past. One wonders where the author will end up taking things next.

Colin and Emma's story continues. They are planning their wedding while trying to solve yet another series of crimes. Their relationship is a very special one and they try to keep it separate from their jobs with the FBI. Colin's brothers are trying to solve these mysteries as well. We learn more about Mike and his love. It looks like there will be another book in this series. I am looking forward to it.

"In his world, a serious mission required a judicious sense of humor, moments of levity that made everything else not just easier but possible."
