The director shot the film at 25 years old. Interesting bonus on stories behind and mother-daughter relationship, exactly "suspense without a story".

chantal anne akerman: “If I have a reputation for being difficult, it is because I love the everyday and want to present it. In general people go to the movies precisely to escape the everyday.”

chantal anne akerman: “When most people go to the movies, the ultimate compliment—for them—is to say, 'We didn’t notice the time pass!' With me, you see the time pass. And feel it pass. You also sense that this is the time that leads toward death, that’s why there’s so much resistance. But we’ve experienced those two hours, and not only that. During this time, we feel our existence.”

I found this movie to be incredibly boring (the fact that it runs 3 hours & 20 minutes certainly doesn't help). Perhaps some women may be able to identify & / or relate to Jeanne Dielman, but for me the end couldn't come quick enough.

oh my god, two, too.

for 3 hours and 20 minutes a French Belgian woman goes about her strict daily routines, until she doesn't.

3 hours and 20 minutes of tedium.
