Revolves around high school and is for the younger crowd. Thought the title was a rip-off of Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles". I guess 5 Twilight movies just weren't enough.

Like a really bad reverse-Twilight wherein Edward obsesses over Bella. Pretty horrid and banal. Save yourself 20-some odd hours of misery.

If your into supernatural types of movie or tv shows, The Vampire Diaries is the best show for you to watch. It’s about a girl named Elena who gets involved with two vampire brothers named Stefan and Damon. This show is a typical love triangle type of show, where two guys fall in love with a girl, to make it worse they are both brothers. Even though they fall for the same girl, they still have the brotherly bond, and the feeling to protect each other. Little did Elena know, she is a doppelgänger of the girl they fell in love, before they were vampires. This show has a lot of cliffhangers at the end of every episode, but its definitely worth watching, and don’t worry this show has Seven seasons, so your going to have a lot of time to watch this show. It’s definitely worth watching. @bluesky of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

The Vampire Diaries is an action filled television series that has captured the heart of many. It kicked off with the first season providing us with an inside scoop of the life of Elena Gilbert who was just a teenage girl attending high school. Well, her life was normal, until a boy named Stefan Salvatore started attending her highschool and changed her entire life. Elena and Stefan started to grow closer, and soon Elena started to realize things were not as normal as they seemed about her new friend Stefan. The series is a cross of the genres, supernatural, romance, drama, and action. I would rate the first season a three out of five stars as it started a bit slow and took some time to get into. However, once things started to get more interesting I got hooked on the show and finished it extremely fast. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who’s a teenager and loves watching action/romance shows. @BetweenTheLines of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

The Vampire Diaries complete first season was the best out of all seven seasons. The show introduced Elena Gilbert, a new orphan, as well as two handsome "teenager vampires". When I say "teenagers", I really mean that they've been alive for hundreds of years. Vampires do not age, of course! When Elena was first faced with the struggles of having no father or mother, I felt very bad and sad for her. Not only that, but as soon as she came to school, she was caught between the new Salvatore and his older brother. Little does Elena know, she had a doppelgänger named Katherine that these two teenage vampire boys were in love with, obsessed with, and fought over. Poor Elena, stuck in the middle, has to now choose between the brothers and what they both have to offer. Along the way, there are many issues revolving the supernatural siblings. I really enjoyed this season, and I think people should watch it. I rate this season of the Vampire Diaries a 5/5. @Montgomery of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

If you're a big fan of Twilight or perhaps a fan of the book series (I've not read them), then maybe you'll like this.
But if you're looking for a series with a lot of plot building and intrigue with suspenseful twists and turns, or if you're looking for an original, exciting play on the vampire mythos, this is NOT the place to go.
I was snoozing through the show by the end of the second episode and decided to give up on it. The really sad thing was that I could see elements in there that, if properly exploited, could have been AMAZINGLY good. But the story refused to progress at a rate beyond a snail's and there was way too much moping (Kristen Stewart would have had some stiff competition here) going on to make it engaging for an actual adult.

I remember when they anouced this show on television. I was super excited to watch it. After a few episodes I just forgot about it. I found this dvd(s) just browzing the dvd shelf at my library. I thought "Hey why not. Let's see what I have missed?" In my opinion I thought it was boring. Back then I thought it was cool because it was about vampires. I mean really, who doesn't like vampires? Now........ I just couldn't watch the entire first dvd. This is all in my opinion though. Kudos to you if you did enjoyed it. Sucks if you didn't.

Why would a vampire have any interest in high school? Yet these shows seem to surround the high school environment. Never made much sense to me especially with Twilight where the vampires went so far as to enroll and attend classes. This series is pretty much the same thing although not a knock off of the Twilight books cause these novels came 14 years earlier. Day walking vampires, the everlasting love triangle; supernatural boys fighting over that one special (and apparently irreplaceable) mortal girl, werewolves have their introduction as well so nothing really new here. One moderately unique addition is the magical witchy twist with the gorgeous Bonnie who is underused in this season and faded into the background against her co-star who finds herself playing two roles in the show. Just in case the love triangle wasn't enough Nina time, then we meet Katherine, the doppelganger ancestor of Elena who just happens to look and sound exactly like her and with the same goals of having the boys to herself. YAWN. I am really hoping the writers start to get a bit more creative with this series. They really need to focus on the character and storyline development of the other characters to drive the show otherwise all we are doing is watching different ways for one girl to create chaos between two guys. Snooze. So glad they phased out the diary/journal monologue sequences, it was so totally annoying.

After about 10 minutes I realized the series targets a young crowd, to which I don't belong. I fast-forwarded to other episodes and still failed to find anything that could engage me. So I stopped viewing it. Just a note: disc 1 itself has over 3 hours of play. So this multi-disc set demands a lot of time to finish.

Reminds me too much of twilight. It's a decent show, but nothing original here. The guy who was on the show ''lost'' and plays one of the vampire brothers though is a good actor. But like i said, too much of a vampire trend being followed.

It was great from start to finish. I like how each epsiode left you wanting more and each episode added to the ride i never wanted to get off of. I loved it and I would watch them all the time if i could lol. Great Series! 100 percent would watch this again! I can't decide who I like more Damon or Stefan both are sexy! I also have to say that there is a perfect cast in this series. All three characters that are choosen to play Elena, Stefan and Damon go perfectly together. LOVED It! :)
