I thought I knew how this one was going to end. I was so sure I had figured out the ending. It seemed so obvious how this one would end. But then I got to the end of the book, and nothing was what it seemed. This supernatural thriller turned into a completely different supernatural thriller in just one chapter, and it was fantastic! A lot of what I had assumed about certain characters was right, but that twist changed pretty much everything. One of Stine's better Fear Street novels. Reminded me of why I loved this series so much when he first started it years ago.

'The Lost Girl' is an interesting novel about a new girl and a killer who is supposedly after her and her new friends. Things aren't all that they seem, though, as is the case in most of Stine's works, and things quickly start to unravel. A mistake in the past, a bit of magic, and a thirst for revenge, that's what this novel is about, and it's fascinating to see things unfold from the viewpoint of somebody who doesn't know what's going on.

This book was good, however it definitely wasn't one of Stine's best stories. The horror elements were in place, both physical and psychological, and it wasn't really lacking in suspense, but some of the novel could have had more detail, and the relationship between the main character and his girlfriend could have been explored a bit more.

If you want something to make you shiver and wonder about the new girl, this book is for you.
