I really like Drew Karpshyn's Star Wars books and the Old Republic, but I didn't really find Annihilation very interesting. It was hard to get into and I didn't really feel like the villain was in this book enough. (I actually think it would have been better if Darth Marr had been the villain). Of course I liked that we got to read about Satele Shan and that we got to see Theron's relationship with his parents, but I guess I can just say that I don't think this is one of the best Old Republic novels that I've read.

I was a little skeptical going into this book, reading that the adventure was about a non-force sensitive protagonist. However I was surprised by the epicness of the battles and force stuff. The sith lord Darth Karid was a wicked cool character and character concept - how she integrated her force abilities and physical form into a spaceship. I like how the book ties in figures from other novels, such as Satele Shen from "Star Wars: Fatal Alliance" (currently reading) by Sean Williams.
