I read this book a while ago, but remembered really enjoying it.

It is a good book! It's in a genre that I don't really see that often: Ancient Fiction. It ties in magic and sorcery (like any good epic) but also has relatable characters.

The second book is out! "Empire of Dust!"
(hm.... might need a refresher of LoK!)

I mostly enjoyed this book. The main story line is interesting, and I really liked reading historical fiction that wasn't based in medieval Europe with some mysteries for the reader to try to unravel, and despite figuring it out before any of the characters, it didn't feel like it was because they were oblivious, simply that I knew what more characters were doing and thinking, so I had an advantage. The major problem I had with this book was that I didn't find Zofia's story line interesting. This mainly seems to be because although it is slightly connected to one of the other characters, the separate story lines never interact. Zofia's story line does, however, seem to have potential and I anticipate it playing out in the next book. Overall, I would recommend this book and will definitely be reading the next one.

Kind of like "Game of Thrones" for teens. I listened to it and liked the drama, but could be slightly over the top at times. Lots of battle action, scheming and romance. I think teens will dig it, especially if they like historical fiction - but this one goes back to Alexander the Great.

So-so. It edges toward melodrama.
