I live in Austin, and am very familiar with Georgetown. I wish there really were a store such as this, that would do some cooking instruction in the central Texas area,

Being an adopted mom and having had the birth mother show up I empathize with the character Jenna and her adopted family. For us, our natural son was very protective of us. He would have liked to have done away with the "intruder". Fortunately, good sense prevailed; we persevered until the adopted son said, "enough" and chose to live his life with his entire adopted family. There were tears, stress, drama in the meantime. We finally survived and thrived and can look back at a faith growing experience we wouldn't wish on anyone else.

I think her birth mother Serenity is a bit touch in the head. Tom the birth father, and the two brother or not far behind. they blow into town and try to take over everything...acting has if they were there for the last 32 years of her life. they give away there baby because they claimed they couldn't take care of her and they wanted her to have a better life...but if they love her soooooooo much has they claimed why wait 32 years? the part of the story line that had me saying OMG! is this for real? was when she met her brother Wolf, for the first time and he was all over her crying...telling her I've miss you so much. he never met her before... as I said before touch in the head LOL! I like Beth and tom her adopted parents, I feel for Violet, poor girl she has been through so much...and poor Jenna had to deal with all her crazyyyyyyyy hippie family.

Jenna Stevens is a sous-chef trying to rebuild her self-esteem after her divorce. She moves back to her home town and decides to open a cooking store even though she has no experience in retail. She hires Violet who is great at retail and they work together to get the store, Grate Expectations up and running. Jenna’s Mom, Beth is very supportive and always helping out where she can. Suddenly out of the blue, Serenity and Tom, Jenna’s birth parents show up and want a relationship with her. Jenna knows she is adopted but was very happy with her life and never looked for her birth parents. This is a huge shock – them showing up at the store. Violet and Jenna become close friends and it is a good thing because they need each other’s support overcoming man problems in their lives. Jenna has lots to deal with a new store, a second set of parents, divorce and a new man. Other books by this author include Barefoot Season, One in a Million, Sizzling. Reviewed by CP

Loved every bit of this novel.

Didn't make it through this one. Was drawn in by the food and cooking store element, which turned out to be not as prevalent as I would have liked. This was not the type of novel I was hoping for.
