A centuries-spanning story interweaving the lives of two women--a writer working in the heart of modern academia and a daring young Sioux Indian on an incredible journey in the eighteenth century. Brigitte Nicholson becomes hooked on genealogy after she discovers a mystery in her family's past: how did a Dakota Sioux princess end up buried in Brittany as a noblewoman alongside a distant relative? Brigitte's quest to learn the story of the Marquise de Margerac (née Wachiwi) takes her from Salt Lake City to Sioux Falls, S.D., and eventually to Paris, where she meets Marc Henri, a fetching Sorbonne literature professor.

One of my favorite books. I went out and bought this one. I'm from South Dakota and have relatives that are Sioux. It was something different for a change.

Author not my usual cup of tea given she usually writes on the present rich & famous.
However, the premise was different & how the two stories past (pre-French Revolution & actual revolution) & present intertwined.

Probably my favourite of all her books, as she delves into the history of the French revolution, as well as Sioux history.

Had almost quit reading her books. They got to be too predictable and boring. This one was great. I began reading it with trepidation but got hooked right away. Loved the genealogy involved. Hope she writes more like this.

Not a usual Danielle Steel book. I liked the Genealogy part in it and the story that was involved. Very nicely told keeping the time period involved in mind.

One of the best books by Danielle Steel that will be added to my favorites! I love the genealogical aspect as I'm also researching interested in genealogy. I got caught up in the story and it made me want to pursue even further the family history!
