I absolutely love this book! So much so that I was gifted it for my (29th!) birthday! I got it enough times from the library for my kids (read: myself) that it warranted having our own. Can’t say enough about the illustrations, and the story they tell from the front cover to the back. And my children (ages 6 &3) enjoy it as well, chiming in after each page with “unless....!” and trying to guess the next stage of the water cycle, which they are learning based on the images. Also love the way the illustrations go through the seasons. So many layers to this book! It may not be a written “story” but it’s a gem.

I really enjoyed this book and liked how easily and simply it explained the various transformations of water. Excellent book and beautiful illustrations.

Pretty boring. The illustrations are beautiful would be great for a story, but there's no story here. It says it explains the water cycle, but you have to understand the water cycle in the first place to figure out how these little rhymes follow the water cycle. There is a textbook explanation of the water cycle at the end, but what kid wants to read that? I think it's mostly meant as an introduction to preachy environmentalism for young children. I'm sure they will have enough political correctness forced down their throats in school so take this time to enjoy a good story like Curious George, Madeline, or Make Way for Ducklings with them instead.
