In the Health and Eating Laboratory at the University of Minnesota, Professor Traci Mann and her colleagues test common assumptions around food and dieting; their findings debunk much of what we think we know. Not only do diets not work, for example, but they’re even less successful than we’ve been led to believe. And despite common wisdom, comfort food doesn’t make eaters feel better. It isn’t all bad news, though. After explaining what doesn’t work, Mann provides a number of proven strategies to help readers achieve their leanest livable weight. This book was very interesting and a very quick read. Highly recommend for people who are currently on or have attempted diets in the past.

I was able to read an advance review copy of this book and found it a fascinating and readable exploration of what does and does not work when humans try to achieve their lowest maintainable weight. Highly recommended.
