Andersen takes viewers on a whirlwind tour through the metropolis' real and cinematic history, investigating the myriad stories and legends that have come to define it, and revealing the real city that lives beneath" --Container.

Great Doc - Andersen's wry commentary shows a love/hate relationship with Los Angeles, and film - he has intimate knowledge of each. I always nominate NYC for an academy award (best supporting actor) when a film is shot in the apple. LA, as per Andersen, does not fare as well. I love the movie clips showcasing LA - it's fun to watch and notes are made for my next visit. I'll also look to view mentioned films like Killer of Sheep, The Exiles, and Bush Mama. Note: what movie was I watching in the early 90's, half asleep on the couch? I leapt up when the 2 detectives ordered the sloppiest chili dog ever. It inspired my trip to LA to eat those same dogs at Pink's. I was surprised to see the exact same clip in this doc - the movie? Hickey and Boggs. Cool.

There is another wonderfully entertaining doc. about L.A. and Hollywood called "Sunset Strip". That covers a detailed history of the strip and all the coolest hang outs of the not yet rich and yet barely known. Both these flicks shed a lesser seen light on the reality of all things hollyweird. I quite enjoyed both of them.

Remember that cool apartment building in Blade Runner? It's a real building in LA. If you want to see it in daylight, here's your chance. Mildly interesting, sort of random and meandering documentary.
