As usual with Box's Joe Pickett series, "Endangered" is a very good read and captures well the Wyoming setting. However, in this book, as in other Joe Pickett novels of recent vintage, the background anti-federal-government stuff is somewhat over the top and offensive. Governor Rulon's rant about the federal endangered-species and coal-/oil-extraction policies is way too over the top, and it's feeling as if Box is using his novels as a soapbox to promote a (destructive) interior-western view of things without giving due credit to the opposing viewpoint. If the next novel is as polemical as this one, I'm giving up on him.

Well written and compelling storyline. However, there's a bit too much matter-of-fact killing of wildlife for this anti- "hunting as a sport" city girl.

Listened this time while commuting. Good story and very good narrator, David Chandler, who I will listen to again.

I'm a big fan of this series, but the villains in this one seem awfully contrived. Still worth a read.

A few twists and turns that I did not see coming. Ending was unexpected but tied up things nicely. A good read in my opinion..

This whole series is excellent! It really captures the flavor of rural Wyoming, and the characters are great. Game Warden Joe Pickett is a good man who always tries to do the right thing, even when it is not advantageous to his career. I really enjoyed this latest book, but it is important to read this series in order. If you like mysteries with good characters, you will like this series.

This is the second Joe Pickett novel I've read and they are quite enjoyable. I like his character. I'll be looking for more.

Just finished my first C.J. Box novel. In the beginning, I was so bored but decided to give it some time. So glad I did. It got A LOT better, and by the time I'd reached the final part, I was nearly ripping the pages to get them turned. I will definitely read more of his writings. A must read, just please give it time, it WILL get better.

I waited 5 months for this book. I see myself as a C.J. Box fan but I am disappointed about the story overall. For starters the author seems to be taking his try at going after the evil FBI for openers. Can't you find someone else to blame for the world's problems? Then the author has Nate Romanowski apparently nearly shot to death, laid up in a hospital with more tubes and wires running into his body than telephone poles along a long highway. But Romanowski has fooled everyone with their monitors: he's playing possum until he gets his big moment to play hero. I am bitter about cheap story telling.
