I think this book should be required reading for students and adults living in Bellingham. It is rich, horrifying, gentle, and honors and explains so much about the Northwest and Bham in particular. It's hard to walk down the sidewalk and not want to read the plaques in a more informed way after reading this beautiful novel. If you wonder why we have such a problem here with diversity and understanding, this book will give you all you need to know about the whys of it.
