Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage! Sebastian's reputation is so dangerous that thirty seconds alone with him will ruin any maiden's good name. Still, this bewitching chit appeared, unchaperoned, on his doorstep to offer her hand. Certainly an aristocrat with a fine eye for beauty could do far worse. But Evie's proposal comes with a condition: no lovemaking after their wedding night. She will never become just another of the dashing libertine's callously discarded broken hearts -- which means Sebastian will simply have to work harder at his seductions ... or perhaps surrender his own heart for the very first time in the name of true love.

This is one of my favorite romance novels and the best of the Wallflower series. Loved it!

Possibly my favorite installment so far in Kleypas' Wallflowers series. The pairing of a totally degenerate rake (who was the villain in the previous book) with an excruciatingly shy girl with a stammer was a great choice on Kleypas' part, and the resulting relationship is super fun to read about. A very fun read.

Two desperate characters elope to secure their futures without any plans for a workable marriage, but love has a way of changing the best-made plans. Lisa Kleypas takes the villain from her last book, pairs him with the shyest of her Wallflower quartet of heroines, and shows us how to do the "reforming a rake" plotline right. With the hero's wonderful dry wit and a luscious sensuality between our couple, "Devil in Winter" is pure delight, from the hilarious wedding in Gretna Green to the colorful setting of a gambling club. A gold standard of historical romance.

What an amazingly rich and engrossing story! I was hooked from the very beginning and absolutely did not stop reading until the very end. Ho my god! The best in the series. I have to admit I wasn't expecting this. Kleypas blow my mind with Evangeline story. With this series Kleypas has created a wonderfully romantic world for us readers.

Hands down, best regency romance book ever. I read this (3rd in a series) first, and it's still my favorite of all of the historical romance books that I've read (and there've been a few). I own a copy of this book, and still break it out once in awhile to re-read. I love the development of the characters as well as the progression of their love story.

This is part of a series called the wallflowers which is excellent in itself, but this book goes beyond that! It is brilliant! And if you really want a juicy rendition of these books, listen to the audio books! Wow!

Really enjoyed this light romance. Lots of fun. A little surprising that someone supposedly so shy she can't speak for stammering is able to talk to this intimidating, domineering man with hardly a trace of her characteristic stammer. Looking forward to the final book in the series.

Book 3, my fave yet of the Wallflower series. Takes a break from Stoney Cross Park and gives the reader a different, slightly seedier perspective of the British Aristocracy. Def my fave in the series!
