Let's make it clear that this is Not a 'Comedy' of any kind! False advertising! It is a Drama, though!
It is a passable show, even likeable at times, especially if you like Spanish New Orleans Music and Spanish food! This movie is mostly about the Father-Son relationship and Father' love and skill for cooking! The food does look delicious! And the road trip is somewhat interesting!
The Story is not developed enough and makes no effort to convince us how the Chef and his ex-wife got back together! There was no romance, no wooing! Decidedly unconvincing and a superficial part of the movie!
It is a cute, feel-good movie, but not something I would recommend to friends! I honestly do not understand why others are raving about this movie!

"Chef" is a lovely little movie. It's entertaining, funny, and a heartwarming story. Jon Favreau plays a chef who leaves the gourmet restaurant world to run a food truck. It's beautifully filmed, especially the cooking scenes. Do not watch this hungry!

Heartwarming and hunger-inducing, this is an endearing story about a very human chef who starts a food truck on the heels of professional and personal humiliation, and ends up finding more than just a new job. I loved the realism of the characters--especially the main character. People were flawed but trying their best, and I fell in love with the family in this movie.

"Trite and disappointing": the first words that come to mind regarding this movie. Lots of people enjoyed it, but it wasn't for me. If you're on the fence about this one: hop over to the other side.

Thoroughly enjoyable! A highly wound chef has a major meltdown that not only gets posted on the Internet, but leads to his firing and a road trip to recapture his dreams. This movie provides a rare example of healthy male bonding over friendship, family, food, and passing on life skills to another generation. His unfamiliarity with Twitter/social media provides some very funny moments. Emjay Anthony does a great job of playing his estranged 10-year old son, who slowly comes to trust his father again. John Leguizamo, as his best friend, channels the best of Cuban culture and true-blue friendship. Minor disappointment in Sofia Vergara, whose character doesn’t get fully developed. P.S. Do not watch this film if you're hungry: food plays a major and delicious role.
