After seeing the first season, I had to move on to the second one. It wasn't as good, kind of a stretch to keep the story alive. No need for a third season.

Emile Zolla wrote "The Paradise" and his writing can be reviewed in a book titled "Great Writers". Just look under his name in the catalog and you will find four pages listing his works. Only a few have been made into movies. He passed away in 1902, so he is not a current writer. BBC takes classic writers and breathes new life into their work. "The Paradise" has so many human insights into the human condition. It shows the true virtues of a well spent life. I can't recommend anything in the KCLS catalog more highly than "The Paradise"!+

Couldn't understand why John Moray is such a coward, it makes me mad.

Extremely boring and tiresome. Not at all like the first season! It seems in this season all Moray and Denise do is kiss and break up, kiss and break up! It's excessively annoying!

The acting is still terrific as are the costumes and sets, but the final installment of The Paradise is disappointing because of its inferior script. Season one was captivating and entertaining but season two got stuck in a tediously-long love triangle (square?) plot which was sorely lacking in credibility. Alas, a good movie cannot be made without a good story as a foundation.

Some darker themes than Season 1 but excellent stories and performances from all the actors. Sad to see it end.

Season 2 starts abruptly without much explanation as Moray has been banished to France. I found the lack of intervening plot jarring, but season 2 picks up momentum, and advances the story. Fine acting, good pacing, new and returning characters (especially Clemence), and the radiant Denise bring life and adventure to this standout series. Top notch!
