"On the face of it, Emma and Nina have very little in common. Isolated and exhausted by early motherhood, Emma finds her confidence is fading fast. Nina--sophisticated, generous, effortlessly in control--seems to have all the answers. It's easy to see why Emma is drawn to Nina. But what does Nina see in her? A seemingly innocent friendship slowly develops into a dangerous game of cat and mouse as Nina eases her way into Emma's life. Soon, it becomes clear that Nina wants something from the unwitting Emma--something that might just destroy her"-- Provided by publisher.

The beginning of this book was full of promise and piqued one's interest. However, it soon got to be ponderous. There was a slight interest in where the story was going but I ended up not really caring. Certainly not a thriller.

I was thoroughly disappointed in the ending of this book, because there isn't any closure. It abruptly ends without you finding our if Emma is in time to help Christopher. Nina has held a grudge for decades against this woman for no real reason. The reasoning behind the plot seems less that well thought out seeings as the two were teenagers when this occurred and Nina herself said that nothing became of it. I also expected some type of confrontation between the two characters but there was none. And Emma never realizes why all this was happening to her, which made me feel like she was jipped as Nina got to tell her side of the story.

Yet another psychological thriller about woman, but better written than most. In alternating chapters, two rather stereotyped women provide their thoughts and points of view. Certainly a page turner but somewhat implausible.

This book was very disappointing. It started off in an interesting way and I was excited while reading it. I was sure that all of this tension would lead to a strong climax. I read it all in one sitting but the novel didn't deliver at all for what it was building toward. The ending is abrupt and unsatisfying. The explanation for why Nina is seeking vengeance is a let down. Besides the two main characters, the other people in this novel, including their husbands, are lacking in any depth. This book was well written but that is really the only thing it has going for it.

The same gimmick that worked so well in GONE GIRL (explaining the same incident from different perspectives) just feels repetitive in this novel. Lots of drama about something that seems insignificant--maybe that is the point but I just do not get it. And I despised the ending.

Fiction or not, purposeful harm to innocents doesn't entertain me. Doubt I'll read more from this author.

I found it tedious although it picked up mid-way. Hated the ending. Hated it. About two women and how their lives interconnect b/c one of them is kind of weird and stalks the other.

Loved it-even better than "Alys Always". The author has a great gift for adding tension to mundane prose. I would read her shopping list.

Reads like a short story that the author padded and stretched until she had enough length for a novel. The characters have potential, but none of them are well-developed. The two protagonists/narrators are have such similar voices and perceptions that they become indistinct and confusing. Barely rises above the level of chic-lit.

It is a little slow paced, but it does build. I like how the author shows the same storyline from the two different perspectives. Interesting how an incident can be inconsequential to one person, but define another...
A good read.
