"A publisher in New York asked me to write down what I know about the Greek gods, and I was like, Can we do this anonymously? Because I don't need the Olympians mad at me again. But if it helps you to know your Greek gods, and survive an encounter with them if they ever show up in your face, then I guess writing all this down will be my good deed for the week. So begins Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, in which the son of Poseidon adds his own magic--and sarcastic asides--to the classics. He explains how the world was created, then gives readers his personal take on a who's who of ancients, from Apollo to Zeus. Percy does not hold back. "If you like horror shows, blood baths, lying, stealing, backstabbing, and cannibalism, then read on, because it definitely was a Golden Age for all that." Dramatic full-color illustrations throughout by Caldecott Honoree John Rocco make this volume--a must for home, library, and classroom shelves--as stunning as it is entertaining"-- Provided by publisher.

This book is great because it explanes the greek gods with jokes so you wouldn't get tired of hearing the story. You should read this book if you like to know about greek gods.

I gave this four and a half stars because the cover art sucked. They should let the guy who does the art for the inside work on the cover.

Greek myths run rampant with patriarchal violence - sexual assault, murder, pettiness, and revenge. I think Riordan’s effort to sugarcoat these ancient stories with Percy Jackson’s commentary reveals them as strikingly inappropriate for modern kids. My opinion? Save the Greek myths for older teens and adults, unless you plan on having a conversation with younger kids about these tough topics. Or, try this kid-friendly book instead: D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths.

Artemis batted her eye lashes. 'Anything?' 'Anything! I promise on the River Styx!' Boom. Magic words. You never think the gods would've been smarter about not making rash promises on the river Styx but Zeus never seemed to learn. Some girls might've asked for a pony or a new cell phone or a shopping spree with their friends at the mall. Some might've asked for front row tickets to the hottest boy-band concert or a date with somebody really awesome like Percy Jackson or somebody.(What ? It could happen.)

"YOU WANTED TO BE FAMOUS FOR FEASTING!" Demeter roared. "AND YOU WILL FEAST, ERISIKHTHON ----- EVERY NIGHT, A GREAT FEAST AS YOU INTENDED! I AM THE GODDESS OF THE HARVEST, THE MISTRESS OF ALL NOURISHMENT. YOU WILL EAT AND EAT FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAYS, BUT YOUR HUNGER WLL NEVER BE SATISFIED!"

Percy Jackson, a modern-day demigod, tells the stories of the Greek Titans, Gods, and monsters using a great sense of humour and knowledge. This book goes through the stories from the Greek Creation to the reign of the Gods. Zues, Hera, Posideon, Hades, Demeter, Dionysus, Persephone, Athena, Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Hestia, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Hermes, read it all! The monsters include Typhon, Kampé, Echidna, and many more! This book was a great read and I give 5 stars: *****
