Loved this - I don't know why all the lukewarm reviews. Guy Pearce (LA Confidential, Memento) is wonderful. I did find the Aussie accents a bit hard to catch from time to tme.

Not a bad crime mystery.

Watchable, but not very good.

Made for T.V. ,.. not a feature film.

Kinda' high-end soapy drama, and there's some 'action' at the end of the last episode.

Solid standard crime procedural; Pearce gives good value, and it's a pleasure to watch Barry Humphries (a.k.a."Dame Edna Everedge") as himself.

I like the series. Not overly clever or action-packed, just a good solid show. Well done and well acted.

AKA "Jack Irish: Dead Point" from the Aussie TV movies as a former criminal lawyer, turned private investigator and debt collector, was hired to retrieve a photo album and ran into black mailers, drug dealers, police corruptions and killers. Fast paced thriller though nothing Hollywood had not done already.

Jack: Ah, excuse me? Are you Mike Cundall?
Mike: What grubby newspaper are you from?
Jack: Ah, I'm not a journo, mate.
Mike: Oh, lucky. I was going to accidentally have to drop one of those containers on you.
Jack: No, my name's Jack. I'm a lawyer.
Mike: Oh, spoke too soon.

Judge: A lifetime of trying to do the right thing. The Honourable Judge, devoted husband, respectable family man ... But you xyzz one goat...
