1920s Boston. A girl with the best of intentions. A heart set on Hollywood. An empty pocketbook. Ellis Eton finds herself working as a telephone operator for a look-alike friend. For Ellis, this job will provide not only acting practice but the funds to get her a start in the movies. It's simple: avoid Griffin Phillip's attentions, work, and get paid. But in typical Ellis fashion, her simple plan spirals out of control when she overhears a menacing phone call... with her very own Griff as the target.

I love Siri Mitchell and have now read all of her books, but this one is the only one I did not enjoy. It's very shallow. I think it must've been written for young adults. The rest are very good though.

Funny faith-based novel about a young woman, Ellis, who seems to have good intentions, but often finds herself in unpredictable situations.
