Joanna Lumley is absolutely divine! Let her take you on an odyssey you'll never want to come back from. Her sense of humour makes this travel doco so much fun!

I really enjoyed this because the crew went beyond what you'd usually see in a film on Greece, visiting very different types of people all around the countryside. Joanna is a great tour guide, but somewhat distracting is her use of the words "How extraordinary!"

Joanna Lumley's Greek Odyssey is a delightful and informative look at Greece. She takes you to the far corners of the Greek Isles which are ignored in most travel documentaries. Her warm and engaging personality make the viewer feel as if they are traveling with an old friend.

Goes right into the depths of Greece and it's history and ties it with today. Her view of it is fantastically interesting. It reminds me somewhat of a Greek play, filled with fact, drama pathos and joy. I would highly recommend it.

There was no doubt that after watching her Nile series, this Greek episodes would be next on my list. Joanna continues to fascinate me - not just the funny better half of the insanely Absolutely Fabulous series but she can also be a serious hostess specially dealing on travel and history. Her countryman, Michael Palin, a host of a myriad travel documentaries, I must admit, I am a great fan as well but I would say there is more depth in the way she formats her show. She makes a short but succinct analyses of what she's feeling at the moment in connection to what she knows of the place, event to what is being shown. I'd say that an honest and a relaistic assessment that I am seeing myself cheering for her, laughing with her or sometimes, pulling a napkin and wiping some tears as she evokes her feelings without a tinge of sympathy - she's just being natural. I eagerly await her next assignment and what could be it? - The Great Siberian Railway? The religious retreat to India? Or possibly a fiesta festival of various Latin American towns and cities. Whatever her whims might catch her fancy, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.

Joanna Lumley spends more time mugging for the camera and telling the viewer how fascinated she is than she actually gives use information or insight. This documentary publisher normally has very high quality, entertaining DVDs but this is a 4-episode dude.

For those who are more familiar with Joanna's over the top character role from the Absolutely Fabulous series, this comes as a pleasant surprise. She travels through Greece in this documentary series, and is engaging, passionate, and informative. The cinematography in capturing the beauty of the land is outstanding, and her enthusiasm for the country comes shining through. Highly recommended.
