"Growing up as the daughter of famed author Sir Henry Goodnight, Isolde spun romantic tales of knights and maidens. But now Izzy has nothing - aside from a stone heap inherited from her godfather. Gostley Castle is rundown, reportedly haunted, and already inhabited - by a darkly sensual recluse who claims to be the Duke of Rothbury. And he's not budging. Ransom Vane intends to find the castle's rumored treasure. After a life marked by hardship and betrayal, he deserves it - far more than any sheltered English miss. Except Izzy is no gullible girl; she's intelligent, tenacious, and tempting beyond reason. With her wits and his brawn, they could find the priceless relics. All he needs to do is resist the urge to care for her. A simple task . . . and quite impossible, when Izzy is fast becoming the prize he craves most of all..."--Publisher.

Cosplay in a historical romance? Awesome.

Loved it! A true page turner and difficult to put down. This book is sweet, funny, sexy and will give you belly butterflies. This book is pretty light on the sex but there is SO much more to it. When it does happen, its damn amazing.

I really love a scared hero and witnessing his hard crunchy shell get dissolved by the right woman. I know its probably silly of me, but I just cant help swooning for them. I super appreciate a smart witty, soft and sweet heroine who will stand up for the people she loves.

I'll leave you with my favorite quote...
"She was entirely unaware of the protocol when becoming acquainted with a man’s rampant sex organ. Did she reach out and give it a handshake? Touch one finger to the tip? Bid it a polite howdoyoudo?"

Really fun and charming. I love romances with unconventional protagonists and this definitely had that! Also the LARPing element was just great. Sounds totally weird and is totally weird but also worth it.

This book was so much fun and had the perfect balance of sexy, sweet, and funny. Can't wait to read more by this author!

Tessa Dare writes exceptional Regency romances, and part of what makes her so exceptional is the fully fleshed out world and secondary characters she creates. In the case of this book, that world is a nineteenth century version of literary fandom surrounding the heroine's father's books, and Dare's sly pokes at fandoms of all sorts are hilarious without being mean-spirited. The romance itself is compelling, but it's the humor and the winks at the reader that make this one so memorable.
