Best of the series so far. Clara is a great character study.

I think this is possibly the best of all the Lucas Davenport books by John Sandford. The pacing plus the tricky ending were admirable.

Pretty good. Entertaining, good ending even if a bit underwhelming considering all the build up. Great supporting group of characters

Fast paced. Keeps your attention. A lot of coarse language gives the book a dark tone that is unpleasant, but still a good FBI thriller.

Hard hitting and fast paced. The story really moves along, full of twists and turns. Good action story!

I've been reading Sandford's Prey series since it began with Rules of Prey, and after finishing Mortal Prey, I'd place it in the top 2 or 3 or my favorite Prey books. Sanford offers up a suspenseful plot, intriguing characters and read-till-your-eyes-burn action. Lucas Davenport seems to be getting edgier, even though he's on the threshold of domesticity. If you're thinking Sandford is running out of ways to make the Prey books worth reading, Mortal Prey will change your mind.
