Building the Titanic has been a huge financial effort, and White Star Line president Bruce Ismay wants her maiden voyage to hit the headlines. It is at Ismay's urging that Capt. Edward J. Smith pushes for a record speed in their voyage to New York, and that eventually sows the seeds for later disaster. This Titanic features a number of rich, decadent British passengers and a handful of noble German peasants. Ends with the court tribunal acquitting Ismay of any wrong-doing for the sinking of the great ship.

Very obscure, Nazi propoganda film that deals with the sinking of the famous ship. Forceful propoganda aside, this is a great movie and probably one of the first "disaster" films. Certainly you can see the influence this movie has in later films such as The Poseidon Adventure and Cameron's Titanic. You might even say that 1997's Titanic was a remake of the 1943 Titanic. FX are pretty good for it's time, and while not anthing like the actual Titanic, the sets on the ship are sumptuous, while "below stairs" is suitably grimy. Must see for any Titanic enthusiast.
