I am watching season 3, of course I wanted to see more. BUT READING the comments I will stick to the advice and NOT rent the last season. Thank you fellow watchers.

Of course. It's totally understandable.
A character who has dedicated her life to medicine, and working among the poor and downtrodden suddenly decides that it isn't enough. So she walks away from all she's worked for, not caring who she hurts, or how many lives she ruins.
Because what she really wants is a man who will tell her what to do, so she can give up her independence and have his baby. This is not the kind of man to whom she has been attracted in the past - a brilliant and intense doctor (with flaws, no doubt). This is a man she hardly knows, except for an inexplicable sexual attraction. This new man is a proven bully who bad-mouths her friends and co-workers, and has no respect for her work or her beliefs,
Perhaps the loss of all Dr. Bramwell's personal integrity can be explained by the effect on her brain of that weird creepy music that has invaded series 4 (and invaded it way too loud). Series 4 is crap.
And don't even think about the man who (for three series) has been working so hard and so many hours that he's been sleeping at work, and hardly seeing his family and being on call 24/7 suddenly turns out to have been not only seeing a prostitute for years, but has had time to build a relationship with her daughter. In all his spare time.
Series 4 is crap.

I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer. Series 4 is a brilliant end to a wonderful series. If you are attached to a particular character you may find it upsetting, but the unexpected development is by no means improbable. Series 4 is dark but also very romantic. Loved it.

Wow, I can't imagine what the writers were thinking with this improbable ending, after building such fine characters. I'm stunned and very disappointed. I wish I'd let it go at the third season.

If you have watched the first three seasons of Bramwell do yourself a big favour and stop there. The fourth season is so horrible (even if you are the greatest Bramwell fan) that you will be devastated to see what happens in season 4. It is though the writers were hijacked and replaced by some alien writers who didn't bother to watch the earlier seasons. I hated it so much I almost sent the BBC a note about it but held off since the series has been over for many years. This is by far the worst ending to a series I have ever seen and it should go down in the all time BBC hall of shame.

The series started off really good but the last episodes were poorly written. Both Miss Bramwell and Mr Marsham became and did things that were totally out of character and I was left quite disappointed.

Didn't like the ending to this series. The first 3 seasons were great.
