Interest level: ages 6-10. When their baby brother, the Pollywog, mysteriously disappears from their playhouse, four children discover a hidden underground world full of little green creatures. A Canadian classic.

I would not consider this one of my all time favorite children's novels, but the novel was fun and engaging. The difficulty of the reading went unnoticed and as such must have been appropriate for my reading level at the time (I read this in the fourth grade if memory serves). The classic sort of magic children's adventure tale, Og reads like Narnia without the the barely concealed moralizing. Og revels in simply being a good tale, is all the better for it.

One of my all-time favourties.
